“Again!” “You have Covid, again!” Yup, that’s the typical reaction that I receive from everyone. It’s so 2021 to admit to testing and acknowledging.

5 Scoops of Risks
RISK 1 BROADWAY
Mitch and I went to New York City to see three Broadway shows in three days. (That’s what you do when you are no longer a New Yawkah)
The thrill of Broadway is in my soul. I love the music, the lights, the excitement, the talent but maybe not the seating. Talk about personal space, the seats are so close and the breathing from random strangers is continuous. I know, that’s a human thing but all those germs being blown in one’s direction.
Out of the three shows , Mitch and I enjoyed SUFFS the most. From beginning to end, it was smart, funny, heartbreaking, and educational. The story lines of the historical women activists was fascinating. I was compelled to to look up all the women hero’s. And I can’t stop listening to the music. The message is so important right here, right now! GO VOTE! Also, my cousin’s daughter went to camp with the brilliant Shaina Taub! _ am I cool by association?
We enjoyed Hell’s Kitchen. Our seats were so close, I felt the energy radiating from the stage. The music was lively and the standout performances are the reason to go to Broadway and this show!
OK, I admit – I didn’t understand the big deal about Stereophonic. It won best play so I know it’s me. It just was too slow, a lot of staring and silence between the actors. The music was great but this was a play so not enough music for me.

RISK 2 SUBWAY
Ahh the subway. We took the subway to Battery Park to catch the the crowded ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. Yes, I know people take the subway every day and don’t get Covid. But do they really not get Covid? Or are they not testing? Hmmm….

We walked 353 steps to crown

RISK 3 HAND SANITIZER or NOT
My husband Mitch doesn’t have the same hand sanitizer beliefs that I do – Let’s just leave it at that. We are touching everything everywhere and then eating.

Risk 4 HUSBAND MITCH
On our long drive home from NYC, Mitch said he was getting a sore throat. Uh Oh – The next day he had full blown Covid symptoms; however I tested him three separate times and he was negative. So, in true Rubin form, I isolated and wore the mask while he coughed and sneezed throughout the house.
A full week later, I started to feel yuck. Our grandchildren were sleeping over and I decided to test. That second line came up immediately and I was positive for Covid. F@#%!

RISK 5 – Our JESS
I spent a lot of time last week with our daughter Jessica. Distancing doesn’t exist with Jess. She communicates with touch. Jess grabs, hugs, pulls me closer, asking for kisses by giving me her cheek, completely immersing herself with connection.
The bright spot is that Jessica had Covid last month (yes, Again) , so I hope what “they” say is true and that she is immune for a bit.

So, that’s my Covid story 2024 – I wrote this on day three the first day I felt like writing. So be kind to me about this blog is was written with Covid Brain.
The magic calendar days of being catching, communicable, and contagious are over and I am back to my over-programmed, over-planned, under-spontaneous schedule!
Oh, I did not get the booster this year. May need to rethink that for next year…
